Partners for Child Passenger Safety

Partners for Child Passenger Safety (PCPS) is designed to learn why motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death and disability in children over age 1 in the United States. Children’s Hospital, the University of Pennsylvania and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company have partnered to conduct research to determine how and why children are injured or killed in motor vehicle crashes. This research identifies key issues in child passenger safety and leads to more in-depth study of injury patterns. The PCPS seeks to affect parent behavior and child passenger safety related design through communication with targeted audiences including medical providers, automobile and restraint manufactures, public policy makers, advocates and parents.
