Research Interests
Dr. Peter C. Adamson was appointed Chief of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in September of 1999. Dr. Adamson was recruited from the National Cancer Institute where for the past 12 years he was an Investigator in the Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics Section of the Pediatric Oncology Branch. He received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College. Dr. Adamson has published extensively on the subject of clinical pharmacology, pediatric oncology and other related areas.
Dr. Adamson was recruited to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to establish the new Division of Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics. He led the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development sponsored Pediatric Pharmacology Research Unit based at CHOP from 1999 through 2005. Dr. Adamson serves as Associate Director of the General Clinical Research Center at CHOP, where both inpatient and outpatient studies including pharmacokinetic trials are performed in children.
Dr. Adamson's leadership roles in The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's PPRU and as Director of the Office of Clinical and Translational Research, and in his national leadership role for the COG, attests to his ability to both lead and participate in collaborative pediatric clinical research. Dr. Adamson has extensive experience in mentoring fellows and junior faculty both in his current position as Division Chief as well as during his tenure at the Pediatric Oncology Branch of the National Cancer Institute. His trainees have continued to have active roles in clinical and laboratory research focusing on pediatric drug development.
