Jeff Pennington's goal is to improve the way people interact with data and information in the domains of life science research and healthcare. He has over thirteen years of experience in data warehousing, data management, and analytic application development. Prior to joining the Center for Biomedical Informatics (CBMi), he spent seven years at a genomics company as a senior software engineer. In this role, he developed clinical and genomic data management and analysis software used by drug discovery and toxicology researchers at the world's largest biotech and pharmaceutical companies. Jeffrey has an intense interest in evolving Stokes Institute into a premier informatics-driven research enterprise one meaningful project at a time. Jeff holds a bachelors degree in biology from Trinity College.

Michael Italia
Senior Data Integration Analyst

Michael Italia has over eight years of experience designing and building genomic data integration solutions in the pharmaceutical industry. His prior experience includes spearheading projects for sample data management and the integration of genomic platform data with clinical and experimental design information. Michael received a master's degree in biotechnology with a bioinformatics focus from the University of Pennsylvania. Michael also holds a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from The Pennsylvania State University.

Alex Felmeister
Data Integration Analyst

Alex Felmeister's role with the TiU is to facilitate the forward progression of informatics projects solely for the Division of Oncology and the Center for Childhood Cancer Research. He takes a business analyst and social informatics approach to search for, implement and integrate systems to better serve the mission of translational research and Oncology's goals. Alex works closely with the division's faculty, administrators, clinicians and research staff to keep translational software integration projects on track. He is also tasked with keeping the Center for Childhood Cancer Research current with the research technology initiatives at the CBMi. Alex earned a Masters of Science in information systems from Drexel University where he focused on database systems, healthcare informatics research and holding a teaching assistantship in nursing informatics.
