The Translational Informatics Unit (TiU) is a service unit of the Center for Biomedical Informatics and the Joseph Stokes, Jr. Research Institute.

Our mission is to provide informatics solutions for Hospital investigators who are involved with translational research. We help to identify, implement and integrate tools and technologies that support:

Operational Effectiveness

• Clinical trial operations and data management
• Biospecimen banking and sample storage
• Laboratory information management
• Patient registration and scheduling
• Compliance, governance, and patient confidentiality

Innovation

• Integrated clinical and research reporting and data analysis
• Application of clinically significant genomic analysis tools

We use our knowledge of the Stokes research enterprise within The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and our Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) partners to provide optimal solutions for each Hospital laboratory. In addition, we strive to implement systems with the ultimate goal of integrating them across laboratory environments and institutions.

TiU helps to identify and implement a Labratory Information Management System (LIMS) to enable the Hospital's primary translational core facility.
