Clinical Reporting Unit Designated as Stokes Core Facility

The Center for Biomedical Informatics (CBMi) and the Joseph Stokes Jr. Research Institute are pleased to announce the designation of the Clinical Reporting Unit (CRU) as a Research Core Facility.

The CRU assists clinicians, researchers and managers to improve medical care for children by making continuous use of the rich array of data collected at the point of care.

As a designated Stokes Core Facility, the CRU will begin providing its services for an hourly fee beginning June 1. Initial consultation and preliminary research support that is small in scope will remain free of charge. The chargeback mechanism is intended to allow the CRU to grow its services based on demand over time and to ensure that researchers have access to a high quality, sustainable service.

The CRU, now in its fifth year as a service organization, is led by Robert Grundmeier, M.D., F.A.A.P., and Jonathan Crossette, M.P.H.. Their team consists of both practicing physicians and seasoned programmers, resulting in efficient reporting of high clinical relevance and accuracy.

The CRU's recent designation as a Core Facility allows the group to provide a highly visible and accessible service under the direction of Core Facility administration. It also continues its close associations with other enterprise information-based groups, including CBMi, the Institute to Transform and Advance Children's Healthcare (iTACH), the Pediatric Research Consortium (PeRC), and Information Systems.

Investigators who would like to learn more about the staff and service offerings of the CRU can visit the core's Web site at http://www.research.chop.edu/cbmi/cru/ or contact Jonathan Crossette at crossette@email.chop.edu or ext.62493 for an initial consultation.
