Dr. Grundmeier is Board Certified in Pediatrics and has worked as a pediatrician for 6 years in Primary Care at CHOP. He is the Director of Clinical Informatics in the Center for Biomedical Informatics and leads efforts to use the electronic health record (EHR) for clinical research and knowledge delivery. Dr. Grundmeier is an accomplished programmer with experience in database reporting tools and user-interface design and has served as the physician analyst for the EHR implementation team. He has several years experience developing software in both the field of engineering and medicine. On CHOP's electronic health record project, he is instrumental in working with physician groups and clinical leadership to establish consensus on key design decisions. He is familiar with all aspects of customizing the EHR and oversees development and maintenance the majority of clinical documentation tools used in the EHR. Most recently Dr. Grundmeier has been assisting clinical researchers at CHOP to obtain pilot data for grant preparation, develop patient enrollment strategies, and manage the research data once the project is underway. Dr. Grundmeier has supported a multitude of research projects on topics ranging from documentation completeness, infant feeding, asthma, childhood development, psychiatric disease, and trauma. He has demonstrated tremendous talent to maximize the use of the EHR for cost effective and high quality outcomes research.
Jonathan Crossette

Mr. Crossette directs the clinical reporting activities that take advantage of the EHR's extensive data set. He was part of the team that selected and implemented the EHR in the Hospital's Primary Care Centers, and he contributes leadership to the effort to standardize understanding and use of data across the institution. In addition to a master's degree in public health, he completed the medical informatics course at the Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole, Mass., sponsored by the National Library of Medicine.
Svetlana Ostapenko

As a data analyst within the CRU, Svetlana combines her experience in the areas of database administration, programming and modeling of clinical data to offer high quality reports. Specifically, she creates and manages complex abstractions of data from the Hospital's EHR and curates data for researchers, public health agencies and operational customers. She has contributed to a diverse array of large initiatives, including the Community Asthma Prevention Project and the Center for Applied Genomics. Svetlana holds a master's degree in German language and literature and is certified in client-server programming, advanced Crystal reporting, Visual Basic programming, and fund-application development.
Mark Ramos

Mark joined the CRU as a data analyst in 2005. In addition to creating and updating complex data sets for specific research projects, he also maintains a series of high-throughput report generation scripts for tracking Hospital activities and patient population profiles over time. Mark's experience with database structures, programming languages, and Hospital-specific clinical data capture and storage systems enables him to efficiently produce reports that are highly relevant to furthering research. Mark holds a bachelor's degree in information sciences and technology from the Pennsylvania State University.
